Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about LingoTuner - and about trusting a translation you can't read.

The basics

LingoTuner is a self-verifying translation tool. It translates your texts, documents, and webstore content at AI speed - and then proves the translation is correct, by translating it back into your own language so the meaning can be compared with your original. You can run this verification loop yourself, or let our AI Agent run it automatically and report back what it fixed.
Google Translate and DeepL give you a translation - and that's where they stop. If you don't speak the target language, you have no way to know whether the result is right. LingoTuner adds the missing step: verification. In fact, LingoTuner works with those engines - you can run our verification loop on top of Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, DeepL, or our own AI Agent. We're not asking you to replace your favorite engine; we make it safe to rely on.
Through back-translation. Your text is translated into the target language, then translated back into a language you know well. You compare that "validation text" with your original: the wording may differ, but the meaning must not. If something drifted, you'll see it - in a language you actually read - and you can fix it before publishing. No knowledge of the target language required.
For most content - product descriptions, websites, manuals, labels - no. The verification loop catches the contextual errors that make raw machine translation risky, at a tiny fraction of agency cost. For highly specialized content (legal contracts with jurisdiction-specific terminology, literary texts), a human expert can still add value - and LingoTuner makes their work faster and cheaper too, because they review verified translations instead of translating from scratch.

The AI Agent & engines

It's LingoTuner's autopilot. Choose it as your engine and it runs the entire verification loop on its own: translates your text, back-translates it, compares the result with your original, and corrects any discrepancies in meaning - then hands you a summary of every change it made. You get a translation that has already passed its own quality check, plus a report showing exactly what was fixed and why. No black box.
Your choice. Use LingoTuner's AI Agent for the fully automated experience, or run the verification loop on top of established machine translation engines like Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, or DeepL. You can even try the same text with different engines and keep the best result. The loop works the same way on all of them.
More accurate than any unverified machine translation - because errors don't just slip through. Every translation can be checked against your original meaning before publication, either by you or by the AI Agent. This matters most for smaller languages, where standard machine translation makes the most mistakes and human proofreaders are hardest to find. And because you verify the reference text once before translating into many languages, an error gets fixed at the source instead of being multiplied across twenty markets.
Yes - that's the hands-on mode. You can edit the reference text at any point, back-translate again, and repeat until every nuance is exactly right. One refined reference text then produces better translations in all your target languages at once.

Webstores & practical use

Yes - that's one of the things LingoTuner does best. Native plugins are available for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and OpenCart. Connect your store and translate products, categories, SEO titles, metas, and slugs directly - with your brand names, model numbers, and SKUs automatically protected from translation. Each product goes through the full verification loop individually, so every description is checked before it goes live.
You can translate texts and documents of any length, into one or many languages simultaneously. Catalog content is processed product by product - each item gets the complete verification loop on its own, rather than being swept through in an unchecked batch. Work through your catalog at your own pace, with Autopilot doing the heavy lifting.
As many as you want - there is no language limit on any plan, including Free. While other tools cap the number of languages per plan or charge per language, LingoTuner simply counts the translated output: a 20-word description translated into 5 languages counts as 100 words of your quota. Unlimited languages, pay only for the result.
Yes. Upload a .docx and you get a .docx back - same layout, same styles, same structure. Your translated manual looks like your original manual.
Two features handle exactly this. Word-sense control lets you choose the correct meaning for ambiguous terms once and applies it consistently everywhere. Protected terms keeps brand names, model numbers, SKUs, and signature phrases exactly as you wrote them, in every language.

Plans & getting started

Yes - 200,000 characters free, with no credit card required. That's about 33,000 words of translated output: enough for a full manual, a website, or hundreds of product descriptions. The quota counts the result across all your languages - for example, 400 products in one language, or 20 products in twenty languages - and it's a real trial of the full verification loop on your real content.
No. You can choose a monthly plan, an annual plan (17% savings, characters never expire), or a one-off project with no subscription at all.
Yes - API access is available on all plans, so everything LingoTuner does in the app, your own workflow can do automatically.
